King County Announces Selection of Airport Division Director
Berg has served as director of operations at Salt Lake City International since 2001 and will replace Robert Burke, who is retiring from the airport after more than 12 years. Prior to Salt Lake City, Berg served as Director of Airport Operations for Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority and held leadership positions at other airports including Long Beach International Airport.
Boeing Field is one of the busiest primary non-hub airports in the nation, averaging nearly 200,000 annual operations. The airport serves small commercial passenger airlines, large cargo carriers and general aviation and is the home for several very large corporate operators such as The Bill Gates Foundation, Nordstrom's, Costco, Microsoft, Starbucks and others. It is also the home to Boeing's flight test operations, the 737 delivery program and its military program.
"We are very excited that Randall Berg will be joining us and overseeing King County International Airport and its staff," said King County DOT Director Harold Taniguchi. "With his depth of experience and airport management savvy, we gain a solid leader to help guide us through the opportunities and challenges ahead."
Berg has a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management from Pepperdine University and is an accredited airport executive (A.A.E.) from the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE). Berg is also the First Past Chair of AAAE and has been very active in the aviation industry as a leader and as a mentor and teacher for many young aviation students and professionals. In recent years, he has received numerous awards including Distinguished Service Awards from the national association of AAAE, the Northwest Chapter of AAAE, the Southwest Chapter of AAAE, as well as awards from the FAA and TSA.
