Lynchburg Regional Airport Selected New Airport Deputy Director

Mr. Lima has most recently been the Financial Project Manager with the Birmingham Airport Authority, and prior to that, an Airport Planner in both Birmingham and Charlotte, North Carolina.

Mr. Lima brings over sixteen years of aviation experience to LYH including twelve years of direct Part 139, commercial service airport experience, covering airport operations, planning and finance.

"This was a very challenging search process in that we were looking for both a deputy director and potential future airport director at the same time," said Mark Courtney, A.A.E., current director of Lynchburg Regional Airport.  "Consequently, we needed to find just the right candidate who possessed a unique combination of background and experience that included a range of knowledge at commercial service airports in various departmental functions.  We feel we have accomplished that with Marcelo."

"I am excited to accept the Deputy Director position and be able serve the City of Lynchburg in this role," said Lima.  "It is an amazing community with continuously growing potential.  I look forward to working with Mark Courtney and the City leadership team to advance their great work in maximizing the airport's economic potential to the region, as well as the state."

Mr. Lima holds a Master of Science degree in Aviation Administration from the University of North Dakota and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aviation Management from Ohio University. He also holds accreditation as an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) from the American Association of Airport Executives and has a private pilot certificate.
