Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority Announces Vice President, Communications & Community Affairs
In her new role, VanAuken will be responsible for crisis communications; strategic communication planning; executive external and internal communications; media; and public and governmental relations. This position serves as a strategic advisor to the President and CEO regarding public relation issues, and is also responsible for overseeing the air service development efforts for the Authority.
VanAuken brings nearly twenty years of leadership in airport communications, air service development, and marketing to her new position. She most recently served as the Senior Vice President- Chief Marketing/ Communications Officer at Akron-Canton Airport (CAK), where she was the chief communicator and spokesperson responsible for all marketing, air service and communication programs and staff. VanAuken was in this position for 8 years. She is very active in the community and serves on the Board of Directors for number of organizations related to economic development as well as the Boards of Cleveland Clinic Akron General, Leadership Akron and others.
VanAuken has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Austin College and a Master’s of Public Administration degree from Western Michigan University.
