The Augusta Aviation Commission Selects New Executive Director
In his new role, Judon will serve as the chief executive officer, responsible for the overall management and administration of the Augusta Regional Airport. He will administer policies and directives of the Augusta Aviation Commission and work with elected officials, managers, vendors, auditors, and media to provide administrative support to the Commission. Judon will also plan, direct, and coordinate the work of staff personnel.
Since 2012, Judon has been the Assistant Aviation Director- Operations at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), the 6th busiest airport in the country. Prior to that, he was the Airport’s Operations Manager and Airfield Maintenance Manager for 10 years. Judon served with the U.S. Marine Corp where he earned the Bronze Star Medal for his service.
“We were pleased with the quality and talent of candidates applying for the position but the Commission felt, as a body, that Herbert stood out as the best match for the Augusta Regional Airport as we move forward,” said Cedric Johnson, who is the chairman of the Augusta Aviation Commission.
Judon holds a Masters of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of North Carolina/Charlotte. He also holds accreditations as an Accredited Airport Executive from the American Association of Airport Executives (A.A.A.E.), as well as the International Airport Professional (IAP) from the Airport Management Professional Accreditation Program.
