The County of Orange Announces New Deputy Airport Director, Public Affairs for John Wayne Airport
Freed began working for the County of Orange as an Executive Assistant to then-Supervisor Roger Stanton in 1987. He joined the Airport as a Staff Analyst in the Budget group a year later. Since that time, Freed has assumed responsibility for various functions in the Public Affairs division, including government affairs, communications and customer relations.
In 2001, he was promoted to Manager of Access and Noise and, in this role, Freed has taken the lead on a number of critical and complex projects including air service development, replacement of the Airport’s noise monitoring system and extension of the Settlement Agreement.
Throughout his 28 years at JWA, Freed has demonstrated a tremendous work ethic and a deep commitment to the Airport and the important work that they do.
“Eric’s extensive knowledge of the Settlement Agreement and Access Plan, his strong and positive relationships with our airline and community partners and his demonstrated management expertise set him apart from the other candidates and made him the very best choice for JWA. I look forward to working with Eric in his new position,” said Barry Rondinella, JWA’s Airport Director.
Freed has a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business Management from the California Polytechnic State University.
