The Jackson Hole Airport Board Announces New Appointment for Airport Director
Elwood most recently served as the Airport Director for the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE), a position that he held for thirteen years. Prior to that, he served as the Airport Manager at the Eagle County Regional Airport, and the Director of Aviation at Pueblo Memorial Airport.
"With the community's input, we hit a home run for Jackson," airport board President Jerry Blann said in a statement last Thursday. "We had many strong candidates, but Jim stood out both in terms of management experience, and also as a leader who works to understand and respond to our community."
"I would like to thank the Jackson Hole Airport Board for selecting me," said Elwood. "It is a great honor and I look forward to working with the Board and staff as we begin a new chapter at the airport."
Elwood earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management from Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado and he is an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) with the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE). Elwood is a private pilot and has served as Chair, Board of Directors for AAAE. He has also received several prestigious industry awards, including the Jay Hollingsworth Speas Airport Award 2012, which granted a sizable honorarium to the recipient. Elwood donated the gift to the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies. Additionally, AAAE awarded him the AAAE Distinguished Service Award 2009, one of their highest levels of recognition for outstanding professional and personal accomplishments.
