The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport Board of Directors Announces New Executive Director
“I am thrilled and honored to be named Executive Director of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport by the Airport Board,” said Beardsley. “I am eager to begin working with the Airport Board, AVP’s talented staff and the local community to build on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport’s successes for years to come.”
“The Board was very pleased with the search process and the quality of the candidates,” said Airport Board Chairman and Lackawanna County Commissioner, Jim Wansacz. “Mr. Beardsley's in-depth knowledge of the region, his management style and his understanding of air service development will be of great benefit, and his desire to partner with business leaders and the community make him an outstanding choice to lead the airport. The Board is very excited about Mr. Beardsley coming to AVP, and we are all looking forward to working with him going forward.”
Beardsley will take over the reins from Barry Centini who will retire in January, 2015. Centini enjoyed a 43-year career at AVP, moving up the ladder from Business Manager to Director.
All members of the Airport Board lauded Centini’s service and career accomplishments, the most prominent being the $90 million construction of the new terminal and parking garage that opened in 2006 and included other improvements.
Wansacz thanked Centini for his service and cited the terminal project, parking garage and roadways, and the improved services as highlights of Centini’s career.
Beardsley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management from Daniel Webster College in Nashua, New Hampshire and is a licensed pilot.
