Allegheny County Airport Authority Names Valerie Townsend as Director, Airport Security

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Allegheny County Airport Authority has named Valerie Townsend as Director, Airport Security for the Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT). She began her new position on November 15, 2021.
Ms. Townsend brings a strong background in policing and Federal agency work with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Homeland Security. Most recently, she was the Chief of Police for the Chatham University Police Department in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has also served as a Section Chief for Homeland Security/TSA where she worked in the Office of Security Operations – Compliance Programs as Supervisory Transportation Security Specialist.

Ms. Townsend is a Certified Personal Protection Specialist.
