Bonnie McFarland, SHRM-SCP, CEBS, SPHR, Named Chief Human Resources Officer by The Lee County Port Authority

FORT MYERS, FL – The Lee County Port Authority (LCPA) has named Bonnie McFarland, SHRM-SCP, CEBS, SPHR, as Chief Human Resources Officer. In this position, Ms. McFarland is a member of the Port Authority’s senior management team, responsible for the overall administration, coordination, management and evaluation of the human resources functions and activities. LCPA owns and operates Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) and Page Field (FMY). Ms. McFarland began her new role on February 1, 2024.

Ms. McFarland has more than twenty years of human resources experience with an extensive background in employee recruitment and retention, staff development, benefits and compensation and policy development. Most recently she worked for MetLife as Senior Client Service Consultant. Previously, she was Director, Insurance and Benefits Management for the School District of Lee County Florida. In that role, she was responsible for a 17-member team, managing employee benefits, employee wellness, property and casualty insurance, and workers’ compensation. She has also served as Benefits Manager for the City of Cape Coral, Florida.  

Ms. McFarland earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida and went on to receive a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas. She is a Senior Certified Professional with the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM-SCP), a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) and a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
