Colorado Springs Airport Welcomes Two New Assistant Directors

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The Colorado Springs Airport (COS) announced the addition of two new members of the leadership team – Jim Lovewell and Alex Kovacs MBA, C.M., C.A.E. Mr. Lovewell has been appointed as the Assistant Director of Airline Affairs, Marketing & Communications, overseeing the marketing and communications and air service departments. Mr. Kovacs will fill the Assistant Director of Construction and Finance role, leading the Design and Construction and Finance teams.
“Jim and Alex are great additions to an already stellar team, and I’m looking forward to their leadership of our business administration departments. As the airport grows, adding these two key roles will support our ability to manage that growth effectively,” said Greg Phillips, Director of Aviation for COS.
Mr. Lovewell joins COS from the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce and EDC, where he served as the Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Lovewell retired from the Air Force after 24 years of service and has managed a broad spectrum of aviation projects and operations. He received a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Psychology and a master’s degree in Business Administration from San Diego State University.
Mr. Kovacs has a wealth of aviation experience, having served in various roles at Reno International Airport for the past 16 years, where he was responsible for finance, budget, and risk management. He is a Certified Member (C.M.) of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE). Mr. Kovacs received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine. He went on to earn master’s degrees in Business Administration and Management and Leadership from Western Governors University.
Both positions were filled by ADK Consulting & Executive Search.
