OAKLAND, CA – Albuquerque Airport Director Nyika Allen is headed to the San Francisco Bay Area to begin as Assistant Director of Aviation for Business, Strategy, and Finance at Oakland International Airport. Ms. Allen will lead the teams responsible for the airport’s revenue divisions including Properties, Ground Transportation, and Marketing.
Ms. Allen is an experienced airport executive with a strong background in business development and a successful history of working in the aviation, government, and non-profit industries. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in International Management from the University of New Mexico Robert O. Anderson School of Management.
Ms. Allen became the first millennial to lead an Albuquerque city department and was the first woman to serve as Director of the Department of Aviation. Under Ms. Allen’s leadership, Albuquerque International Sunport sustained its position as a leading hub of business travel as the largest airport in New Mexico, with about 5 million passengers traveling annually.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Nyika as the newest member of the Port of Oakland Management Team. After a highly competitive national search, it was clear that she represented the best combination of what we were seeking. This position is a critical one and it will only increase in its importance with our continued focus on enhancing the Airport’s ability to serve Bay Area residents and visitors’ air travel and air cargo needs. I am confident she will be a great addition to the team at OAK and look forward to her arrival,” said Bryant Francis, Director of Aviation for the Port of Oakland.
“As I embark on this tremendous opportunity at the Port of Oakland, I take confidence from my experiences in Albuquerque, and carry with me the great depth of knowledge and partnerships I formed there,” said Allen. “I look forward to working with the dynamic team at the Port of Oakland and helping shape the future of the Oakland International Airport.”
