Dan is a big people person and believes in building strong and long-lasting relationships through open and honest collaboration, creative listening and understanding the big picture for everyone involved. He encourages and practices continuous improvement and has a successful career in negotiating through difficult situations. His passion is helping people, and this is evident in the amount of time he spends talking at high schools, universities, businesses and conferences. He enjoys public speaking and has performed professional presentations throughout the U.S. and abroad.
Dan has over 31 years in the aviation industry which began in the United States Air Force as a Crew Chief on F-15 Aircraft. He has worked at several airports including the Southern Illinois General Aviation Airport, Stapleton International Airport and Denver International Airport. He recently retired from the City and County of Denver as the Vice President of Operations for the Denver International Airport where he successfully managed large groups of employees, multiple contracts, large budgets and a busy and complex operation for the 5th busiest airport in the U.S. His biggest accomplishments included building strong and lasting relationships with many of the stakeholders and airlines and helping his team reach their personal and professional goals.
Dan is an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) with the American Association of Airport Executives and has served on the Board of Directors for the Northwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives for over 4 years. He holds an Associates Degree in Aviation Technology from Antelope Valley College, Lancaster, CA, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aviation Management from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL, and a Master’s in Business Administration in Project Management from Regis University, Denver, CO.
Dan has two boys in college, Jacob and Nick and continues to serve as an Assistant Scout Master within the local Boy Scout troop helping boys become future leaders. Both of his boys finished and obtained the rank of Eagle Scout while in scouts.
