The City of Charlotte Appoints Jerome Woodard as Chief Operating Officer

CHARLOTTE, NC – The City of Charlotte has named Jerome Woodard as Chief Operating Officer for Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). In this role, Mr. Woodard will provide key leadership, vision and support to airport operations, including airside, landside, emergency management, the airport operations center, security, and terminal operations. He will begin his new position on October 24, 2022.
Mr. Woodard’s tenure with CLT began as the Security Operations Manager in Airport Operations overseeing the security operations group. He was then promoted to Assistant Director of Operations, where he successfully supported the daily oversight of airport operations.
Currently, Mr. Woodard serves on the executive leadership team as the Assistant General Manager of Public Safety & Security at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. His current portfolio consists of Airport Security, Airport Law Enforcement, Employee Safety, Safety Management System oversight, and Code Enforcement/Vehicles for Hire/Traffic Management.

Mr. Woodard earned his bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management from Southern Illinois University and went on to earn his Master of Business Administration from Walden University. He is a Certified Member (C.M.) of the American Association of Airport Executives and is a private pilot.
