The County of Moore Appoints Scott Malta, A.A.E., as Airport Manager

CARTHAGE, NC – The County of Moore has named Scott Malta, A.A.E., as the new Airport Manager for the Moore County Airport (SOP). In this role, Mr. Malta will be responsible for planning, implementing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the airport in accordance with the goals of the Airport Authority. He will begin his new position on March 9.
Mr. Malta brings almost twenty years of airport management experience to SOP, serving as the Airport Manager at Castle Airport (MER) in California since 2002. Mr. Malta was the Operations Manager for Roanoke Regional Airport and worked for CUNA Mutual Group and Langley Air Force Base.
“I am very excited to be joining the outstanding Moore County Airport (SOP) team,” said Mr. Malta. “That airport, in that community, in that state is exactly what I was looking for in this stage of my career and my life. I am truly looking forward to getting plugged in and becoming a part of that vibrant airport and community. I will put my experience and determination to work in helping to further community relationships and move the airport on to the next level.”
Mr. Malta holds a bachelor’s degree in Professional Aeronautics and two master’s degrees in science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He is an Accredited Member (A.A.E.) of the American Association of Airport Executives. He is also Past President of the Southwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives.
