The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority Appoints Sylvester Lavender, CPA, as Vice President of Finance and Administration / Chief Financial Officer

MEMPHIS, TN – The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority has named Sylvester Lavender, CPA, as Vice President of Finance and Administration / Chief Financial Officer. In this role, Mr. Lavender will oversee the Finance, Information Technology, Property Management, Procurement, and Human Resources functions for the Authority which owns and operates Memphis International Airport (MEM), as well as two general aviation airports. Mr. Lavender began his new position on August 15, 2022.
Mr. Lavender brings more than 18 years of management experience, most recently serving as Chief Financial Officer for Denver International Airport. In that position, he managed the financial operations which include accounting and control, corporate finance, budget and forecasting, financial planning and analysis, capital program control, audits, and taxes. Mr. Lavender has also worked for Birmingham Airport Authority, UAB Health Systems and Jefferson Community Credit Union.
Mr. Lavender earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Alabama. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
