The Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority Appoints Jason Bennett, PE, as Director of Planning

KNOXVILLE, TN – The Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (MKAA) has named Jason Bennett, PE, as Director of Planning. In this position, Mr. Bennett will be responsible for directing all aspects of airport planning and programming activities for current and future transportation needs for McGhee Tyson (TYS) and Downtown Island (DKX) airports. He began his new position on March 6, 2023.

Mr. Bennet brings 15 years of aviation engineering and planning experience. Most recently he was Aviation Manager for Goodwyn Mills & Cawood, an architecture and engineering firm based in Georgia. He has also worked for Best & Associates and Michael Baker International.

“East Tennessee is experiencing rapid growth due to many favorable conditions that the area provides,” said Mr. Bennett. “It is vital that McGhee Tyson Airport and Downtown Island Airport continue to support pilots and travelers with a high level of service as the area continues to prosper. I am grateful for the opportunity to assist the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority with developing its infrastructure to meet rapidly increasing demand, navigating the evolving aviation environment, and exploring innovative and sustainable solutions.”

Mr. Bennett received his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arkansas. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
