ADK Completes Search for Director of Community Development for The City of North Miami Beach

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, FL – ADK Consulting and Executive Search, a retained consulting and search firm based in Jacksonville, Florida, assisted in the successful placement of Zafar Ahmed as Director of Community Development for The City of North Miami Beach. In this position, he will be responsible for spearheading planning, zoning, and code compliance initiatives within the vibrant community of North Miami Beach. Mr. Ahmed began his new role on October 14, 2024.
Mr. Ahmed brings over 35 years of combined experience in community and economic development, affordable housing, and local government roles. He has led major US HUD-funded programs and successfully managed Public Housing RAD conversion projects. Most recently, he was Assistant Planning and Zoning Department Director for the City of Doral, Florida where he updated and rewrote the Land Use Plan, Zoning, and City Codes to align with city objectives. Previously, he worked for Related Urban Development as Affordable Housing Development Coordinator and for the Miami-Dade Park & Recreation Department as Manager, GIS & Inventory Database/Park Planner 3.

Mr. Ahmed received a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Engineering and Technology and a bachelor’s degree in physics, mathematics, and statistics from the University of Punjab. He went on to receive his master’s degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Miami.
